The Pittsburgh Pirates completed their three game sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals by beating them 5-1. Juan Nicasio paid an early dividend as a starter by pitching six innings, in which he allowed only two hits, and one run, he walked nobody, and fanned seven Redbirds.  He beat out Ryan Vogelsong for a rotation spot with a dominant spring.

It was a different story for the Cardinals Mike Leake, he was the Cardinals big free agent signing in the offseason, and surrendered four earned runs in 4.1 innings on seven hits, with three walks and a single strike out. He also made an error on a pickoff attempt. Leake lost for the first time to the Pirates since May 8, 2012. During his streak he was 7-0 with a 3.08 ERA.

The Cardinals head to Turner Field to take on the Braves, and try to heal up after being swept in Pittsburgh.  Jamie Garcia will start against the Braves. The Pirates move to Cincinnati to play the Reds on Friday night, where Francisco Liriano will take the hill for the Pirates.
