Diamondbacks Use Offense To Rally

For the second straight game the Arizona Diamondbacks saw their off season pitching acquisition get rocked. Shelby Miller was hammered by the  Rockies for six runs is in six innings of work. Miller surrendered eight hits, walked one, struck out two, and was charged with six earned runs. Three of the eight hits the Rockies had left the yard. Including Trevor Story, who hit his third home run in two days.

The story on this night wasn't pitching for Arizona, but hitting and lots of it. Newly acquired Jean Segura went 2 for 4 with a triple and a two-run homer, Paul Goldschmidt was two for four with four RBI, including a solo shot. Trailing 6-2 going into the bottom of the sixth the Diamondbacks trailed 6-2, when they unleashed the offense on a weak Rockies bullpen scoring three in the sixth, and adding another six in the bottom of the seventh.

Don't expect Miller and Greinke to be shelled like they were in their team debuts, they will settle into rotation roles, and provide solid pitching for the Diamondbacks, but the question will persist with the loss of A.J. Pollock will the Dbacks have enough this season to beat the Giants or Dodgers? That question will be answered over the course of the next 160 games.
