The Angels have announced the signing of southpaw Neal Cotts to a minor league contract. Cotts was released by the Houston Astros last week. Cotts, who was very effective against left-hand hitters in 2015 holding them to a slash line of .186/.243/.330. However, at this stage of his career, he is at his best in getting out a left-hand hitter as struggles against righthanders, they slash .286/.367/.500 against Cotts.
In 2015, he pitched for the Brewers and Twins, where he was 1-0 with an ERA 3.41 in 68 games. He allowed 8.2 hits, 3.1 walks, and whiffed 8.2 hitters per nine innings of work. Cotts will provide bullpen depth for the Angels, and it wouldn't surprise me if he was in Anaheim before too long.
