According to SB Nation's Chris Cotillo the White Sox are interested in right-hander Miguel Gonzalez, who was recently placed on release waivers by the Baltimore Orioles. The White Sox are expected to be aggressive in their attempt to sign Gonzalez, but they won't be without competition. The Angels, Marlins, Blue Jays, and Marlins all have some interest in pursuing his services. If he clears waivers the Orioles are on the hook for 25 percent of his salary. He will likely clear waivers, and become a free agent.
Miguel Gonzalez was effective from 2012-2014 with the Orioles, but slipped in 2015. When he went 9-12 with an ERA 4.91, he allowed 9.4 hits, 3.2 walks, and had 6.8 strike outs per nine innings of work. The White Sox signed Mat Latos in the off season, but he had struggled in Spring Training, and John Danks hasn't been very effective over the last couple of seasons. Gonzalez could provide them with a better option than Danks, or Latos.
