According to Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Cubs have released veteran players outfielder Shane Victorino, infielder Munenori Kawasaki, and pitcher Manny Parra. The Cubs are reported to be interested in signing the three to new deals. The Cubs weren't apparently interested in adding the trio their active roster, and it would have cost them $100 retention bonus as all three are Article XX (b) free agents.
Look for the Cubs to resign the trio, unless of course they are offered a Major League job elsewhere. Victorino has been trying to recover from a calf problem which has limited his playing time. Both Parra and Kawasaki enjoyed a productive Spring Training with the Cubs.
