The Cleveland Indians have signed outfielder Marlon Byrd to a minor league contract pending a physical according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. In 2015, Byrd spent time with both the Reds, and the Giants. He hit 23 home runs with 73 RBI with a slash line of .247.290/.453.
The signing of Byrd gives Terry Francona another outfield option. Byrd could possibly serve as a platoon with Lonnie Chisenhall, and offers more offensive potential than some of the other outfield options currently in camp with the Indians. It is a good signing for the Indians to get Byrd on a minor league deal.
