Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports that the Rangers still have interest in Milwaukee Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy. Lucroy a former all-star has been the subject of rumors this offseason. The Brewers are in a full blown rebuilding of the franchise, and would cost a steep price in prospects to obtain the services of Lucroy. It would be an upgrade for the Rangers, who are expected to contend for the American League west title.
Both the A's, and Astros are also interested in Lucroy as well. Like the Rangers, he would be a significant upgrade over their current options. The Astros recently lost catcher Max Stassi to surgery on his left wrist, which will require him to be out for six weeks, plus a rehab stint. The Astros only have Jason Castro with any experience on their roster. It wouldn't be a surprise to see any of the three clubs make a play for the catcher prior to Opening Day.
